On Tuesday (June 24), Simon & Schuster announced that they will be publishing a book featuring 100 black-and-white drawings by Bob Dylan titled Point Blank (Quick Studies), on November 18. This marks the first major publication of Dylan’s artwork in over a decade, and features drawings that were completed between 2021 and 2022, alongside vignettes written by Eddie Gorodetsky, Jackie Hamilton, and Lucy Sante. Some of the drawings featured in the book are currently featured in an exhibit at Halcyon Gallery in London – also titled Point Blank – which runs through July 6. “This book showcases Bob Dylan’s mastery of telling stories, creating moods and provoking feelings,” said publishing executive Sean Manning. “The images are deeply evocative, at once innocent and world-weary, joyous and forlorn, humorous and sensual, enigmatic and familiar.” In addition to the book, the publisher will also release an unabridged audiobook version of Dylan’s best-selling memoir, Chronicles: Volume 1, narrated by Sean Penn, with only an abridged audio version of the book currently available.
